This project was creating a prototype of a dirt bike clutch lever and handle bar mount, along with a brake lever. This first design turned out great, only a few modifications to adjust angles and dimensions. The mock-up on the dowel with the rubber band was a great way to get a feel of the design.

Disc Golf Basket

For the rest of the pictures, click here http://goo.gl/tGzAW

My buddies and I are big into disc golf and find ourselves driving to a local course several times a week. The course is about 15 minutes away and when we go out there, we usually play a quick round or practice some putting. Being a creator, I thought to myself, how hard could it be to make one for my own backyard? I based my design on the baskets at the course we play at, but modified a few dimensions to be closer to PDGA regulations. With some rusty metal from a scrap pile, a machine shop and about 25 hours of work, I had my basket. After a nice powder coating and a lot of chains, here is my result that I am quite satisfied with.

Before starting this project, I tried looking around online for tutorials or designs for a basket, but couldn't find anything useful, so everything I did was from a napkin drawing. I have considered making a nice set of instructions for others to use, but wanted to see if anyone would be interested first, so if you'd enjoy a set of these, please leave a comment. Let me know what you think, I hope you enjoy it!

Planetary Gear Set

This is a planetary gear set with a 4:1 reduction in each gear set, so there is a total of an 16:1 reduction. All the parts were printed at one time and fit together amazingly well with no work done after they were printed. As you might be able to tell from the picture, this print included everything from internal, to external threads, to knurled surfaces and gears of several sizes. The nuts and bolts went together well and are quite strong. This is should be the new desktop stress ball because it is so fun to crank around and be amazed by the moving intricacies!   http://goo.gl/qX1dy

IPad 2 / Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Stand

Today I decided to print a stand to hold my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in both landscape and portrait orientations. The total print time was just under 3 hours and it works like a charm. I'd like to make the design a little cleaner to get better curves on the stand, but I think this is a good start. Any suggestions are welcome! http://goo.gl/9Z933

Hey there

Hey there my name is Hobie Jensen and I'm studying sustainable manufacturing at Chico State. I love to build things and create, so I'm making this blog to share all the awesome projects that I take on. I just purchased a Makerbot Replicator and will be 3D printing all kinds of things in the near future, that I hope to share with you. I also do and get to see some pretty cool things in the manufacturing world, so all that will be posted here as well. I'd love to hear any of your feedback or even disagreement, you can leave comments on my posts or reach me on my Google+ account which is linked to my page here. Looking forward to sharing my stuff!
